Dr. Sunil Tamgale, an internationally recognized black pepper scientist from India, with over two decades of experience in the plantation sector. I completed my Ph.D. in 2002 and have since dedicated my career to uplifting black pepper farmers in India and Cambodia.
I have been honored as the Best Black Pepper Technical Scientist by the Asian Productivity Organization, Government of India, New Delhi, and have received several medals, including gold medals, for my contributions. Over the years, I have directly trained more than 10,000 farmers and positively impacted the lives of lakhs more indirectly.
As the founder of the Black Gold League, I have transferred Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to improve the socio-economic status of pepper growers. Currently, I serve as Scientific Advisor to the International Pepper League, Sringeri-Koppa, Chikmagaluru District, Karnataka, India, where I continue to guide thousands of pepper growers facing challenges such as flowering, pest and disease management, soil health, climate change, and residue-free production.
